Reaching New Heights: The ABCs of Tree Planting and Care - Lakeview Cemetery

YOU can help increase canopy cover and reduce runoff all while beautifying your yard and your neighborhood - all by planting a tree!

Proper planting and care are essential for young trees to survive and thrive. At this workshop, participants will learn the basics of tree planting and care, including a hands-on tree planting demonstration. An overview of county-wide tree canopy restoration efforts will also be presented.

The $10 registration fee includes one 1.3 Qt. native tree and take-home instructions. Trees are available for a variety of soil and sun/shade conditions - please see tree descriptions below.

Trees are supplied by Riverside Native Trees in Delaware, OH.

Registration and payment must be received by Sept. 20.

The following native tree species are available through this program:

Northern Red Oak: Highly adaptable; growing in rich moist soils as well as in dryer conditions. A fast growing oak that is at home in a forest-to-be or along a street or boulevard. Full sun promotes best fall color.

Kentucky Coffeetree: prefers deep, moist, alkaline soils, but thrives almost anywhere it is planted, except for permanently wet soils. It grows in full sun to partial sun.
