George Washington Carver

Potted sweet potato plants

The George Washington Carver program is a program created by the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District, the goal is to learn about George Washington Carver, a slave turned scientist and his contribution to soil health.

The program targets students from elementary through high schools in Cuyahoga County where they will not only be educated about the environment, but they will learn of the nutritional value of the crops while being able to reap them at the end of the growing season. Emphasis will be on the propagation of peanuts and sweet potatoes both of which provide human and environmental benefits
